Who We Are
ScooterScout.net is an independent electric scooter comparison site. We are not affiliated with any scooter manufacturer. Questions about this policy can be sent to contact@scooterscout.net.
Cookies We Use
We use two categories of cookies: functional (always active, required for the site to work) and analytics (only set after you give consent).

Analytics cookies — including Mixpanel session recording — are only activated after you click Accept on the consent banner. If you click Decline, no analytics scripts are loaded.
How to Withdraw Consent
You can change your cookie choice at any time by clearing cookie-consent from your browser's localStorage (DevTools → Application → Local Storage → scooterscout.net) and reloading the page. The consent banner will reappear.
You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all sites via Google's opt-out browser add-on, and opt out of Mixpanel tracking via Mixpanel's opt-out page.
Data We Collect via Analytics
When you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics and Mixpanel collect:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Clicks on filters, sort options, and affiliate links
- Approximate geographic location (country / city level, derived from IP — IP addresses are not stored)
- Device type, operating system, and browser
- Referring URL and UTM campaign parameters
- Session recordings (mouse movements, scrolling, and clicks) via Mixpanel
We do not collect names, email addresses, or payment information.
Third-Party Data Processors

- Amazon.com, Inc. — We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Clicking affiliate links takes you to Amazon, where Amazon's own privacy policy applies.
Your Rights Under GDPR (EU/EEA Visitors)
If you are located in the EU or EEA, you have the following rights regarding any personal data we hold or process:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — request deletion of your data
- Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Object to processing — object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Restrict processing — request that we limit how we use your data
- Withdraw consent — withdraw analytics consent at any time (see above); withdrawal does not affect lawfulness of prior processing

Your Rights Under CCPA (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you the following rights:
- Right to Know — request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected
- Right to Delete — request deletion of personal information we have collected
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing — we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Analytics data processed by Google and Mixpanel may constitute "sharing" under CCPA; you can opt out by declining cookies on the consent banner
- Right to Non-Discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights

Affiliate Links
ScooterScout is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links are labelled on product cards.
Data Retention
Analytics data is retained according to the data retention settings of Google Analytics (default 14 months) and Mixpanel (default 5 years, configurable). Functional localStorage values persist until you clear your browser data. We do not maintain our own database of visitor information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
